YNAB alternative
The YNAB alternative that shows you what's coming.
YNAB asks you to assign every dollar a job. Recurna shows you what your dollars are already going to do — 52 weeks out — and lets you test any change in a sandbox before it happens. $8 CAD, not $20.
Two different bets on your money
Forecast the future, or assign every dollar.
Forecast-first — Recurna
We show you what your dollars are already going to do, 52 weeks out, and let you test changes in a sandbox before any of them happen. Anchor each recurring pattern once; the year draws itself. No envelopes, no zero-sum ritual.
Assign every dollar — YNAB
YNAB asks you to give every dollar a job before you spend it — a zero-based, monthly envelope method. Powerful for control, but it's monthly work, and the view ends at this month. It won't tell you what's coming in six weeks.

Switching from YNAB.
Is Recurna a good YNAB alternative?
YNAB asks you to assign every dollar a job before you spend it — a zero-based monthly ritual. Recurna shows you what your dollars are already going to do, 52 weeks out, and lets you test changes in a sandbox before any of them happen. No envelopes, no month-end reset. Recurna is $8 CAD/month; YNAB is around $20.
Do I have to connect my bank account?
No. Recurna is manual-first. You anchor each recurring pattern once — paycheque, rent, subscriptions — and the forecast draws itself. No Plaid, no US data aggregators. Bank sync is optional and will remain so.
What does Recurna do that YNAB doesn't?
Recurna shows your rolling balance week by week — 52 weeks by default, further on Pro — and lets you test any future change (a raise, a new expense, an early debt payoff) in a sandbox before you commit. YNAB's view ends at this month.
Can I import my YNAB data into Recurna?
Recurna is in invite-only beta. CSV import from YNAB is on the roadmap. For now, most users find it faster to re-anchor their recurring patterns from scratch — it takes about 10 minutes and often surfaces items they'd forgotten about.
